They've signed 3 midfielders this window and we've signed no one. And we lost Pienaar too.

3 midifielders who Lawro claims will all be on the bench (and that's after he was banging on about how great they were as signings).
I'm still not convinced their best 4/5 midfielders are better than our best 4/5. I don't really care if they have 25 good championship players on the bench.

Interesting, i don't necessarily agree with all of those ratings but then i don't suppose that would ever happen, that's part of the fun of it.

I don't think the 'spirit' ratings are all there, surely Swansea should be higher than 10 after coming up to the Premiership ?

A few of their better players left the club on free transfers as they wanted to join teams who they felt had a chance of staying up. This would have knocked the other players confidence a bit.

Arteta left, Fellaini, Osman, Cahill, coleman right

bily, gueyre, Rodwell, Barkley, Analcheeb.

Id take most of those over the RS, with the exception of an in form Gerrard / Mereiles for Osman. Arguably sloth over coleman, although they have been using him as a second striker rather than midfielder.

Arteta is better than Adam and Fellani is better than Henderson (easily). But Gerrard is considerably better than Osman and Downing is better than Coleman. I'd say that puts our first choice midfield more or less equal, but they've got a lot more on the bench. We lack depth, and when one or more of these players gets injured we end up sticking people like Phil Neville in midfield.

Keep sniffing, keep sniffing.

Fair play I hadn't thought about Downing. But then we have to think about Barkley's potential too. Sure he isn't ready this season, but in him and Rodwell we have far more promise waiting in the wings than they have.

I still don't think their midfield is better than ours and I'm not convinced that much of their 'depth' on the bench is actual quality. Just overspend on average players.

If we still had Pienaar then our midfield would be at the very least on a par with Liverpool's, but without him we just fall short. If Barkley progresses how we all expect him to then he will definately improve our midfield.

I'd also challenge as to how their defence is as good as ours. RAWK is bursting with people claiming that Glen Johnson is awful, Carragher's legs went 2 years ago and with the exception of Agger they are a mess back there (and he rarely plays 30 games a season). Having conceded 3 goals in every pre season game, including against Ho Chi Minh under 7s I think it's safe to say they are pretty dire back there...

Compare if you will to Jags, Distin and in Leighton Baines one of the finest players in the country (the most sought after defender if you believe in fantasy football games as any sort of yardstick). Up front of course they are far superior.

Well done for systemizing your subjective opinion of the premier league.

Though obviously i'm fuming for giving the RS a higher score in "tactics" than Everton. No way Dalglish is better than Moyes, even Kenwright says so:
