NME used to be a goldmine of info for upcoming gigs before the tinterweb was around.

Preferred it to Melody Maker. I am surprised that it still is printed. Nevermind, music isn't as good as it was in my day kids.

Sure it was good in the 80/90's but it never really recovered from it's over exposure of mid 00's landfill indie and quickly became outdated.

They had some great writers in the late 70s/early 80s. The era of Burchill, Parsons, Charles Shaar Murray and Ray Lowry's cartoons...followed, unfortunately, by the pretentious nonsense of Paul Morley and Ian Penman.
