If I had a suicide in my family/friends, then I may be outraged enough to blackmark the brand.

Plus all the others who are outraged on their behalf.

There's sometimes a fine line between pointless primitive Mary Whitehouse-style outrage, and empathetic outrage. Not everyone sees the line, or agrees where it should be drawn.

I enjoy Family Guy, but sometimes cringe at some of their bad-taste jokes. Others would 'lol'.

The beauty of forums is that we can discuss different views, maybe even learn something from them.
 
Personally it doesn't bother me but i can see it does others.

Don't think its the worst thing in the world but probably shouldn't have been made. I mean i see what they're getting at, that their cars emissions are non toxic, they just choose a stupid way of showing that considering how sensitive the subject would be for some people.
 

No company allows a media agency to publish an ad in the mainstream media without approval. The situations aren't the same.

It was posted on Youtube by the ad company. It's not like they aired it on national television or had a marketing campaign based around it.

The company who made it:

"This viral film was created and posted on Youtube for one day by Innocean Worldwide Europe to get consumers’ feedback on creative idea employing hyperbole to dramatize a product advantage without any other commercial purpose."

It was never an ad campaign or approved by Hyundai, it was never put into the mainstream media.

Okay, that makes sense now. There was one advertising a well known brand of condoms a while back by showing a rape scene: the girl shouting "i've got aids!" to try to stop him, and the guy smirking at the camera as he pulls out a pack of condoms.

Again, it turned out not to be a proper advert but one of these 'creative ideas employing hyperbole to dramatize a product'.
