Hi all, for those that don’t know, I got married last month and the wife and I get the keys to our 1st home on Friday September 13th (would you believe it!)

Looking for some good quality beds, sofa’s tables and chairs, as well as some electricals to deck the place out.

Ideally, don’t want to buy brand new to save as much cash as possible and wondered if anyone could recommend any places to go in the North West or useful websites to browse for that type of stuff.

Beyond the obvious - Gumtree and eBay, i’ve no idea where to start. Any and all help appreciated!

Get yourself some meatballs while you're there.

Try the British Heart Foundation charity shops. They sell furniture - I think it's on West Derby Road (if you are in Liverpool) they get a lot of donations from house builders from show homes as well as other stuff. Usually good quality and good prices. They deliver too. I pretty much kitted my first flat out from the Oxfam shop in Liverpool but that was years ago. I've no idea if it is still there.

It’s still there on Smithdown Rd by the Tavern.

There’s another very good second hand shop by Asda in Hunts Cross.

Seems to only have quality gear in there too.

Can't help but hope you get sorted, all the best. (Been there, done that but in Leeds)

Random thoughts:

Ikea have been good for the few things that I have bought there. Never buy anything from Argos. Don't buy on credit.

Do buy a good mattress - jokes aside, you will spend 1/3 of your life on it and it seems to be a big factor regarding back health. You don't have to buy the most expensive, and watch out for false advertising on this as descriptions aren't legally protected - do some research.
