New Everton Fan

Hey everyone I am a new Everton fan from the states. After watching the premier league last season without a rooting interest I have decided to support Everton. Is there anything I should know about being an Everton fan?
Thanks, Andrew
One of the many things you can do is research. The club has a long long history that one wouldn't know with just a quick search. A lot of Everton supporters from the States (me included) didn't learn it all right away. It comes with time.

Glad you've chosen Everton mate

Main rivals are Liverpool

Historically a successful club but we've had a trophy drought the past 20 years. Things could be looking up though with the new squad and manager.

Overall we have a cracking fan base who have had their fair share of celebration and suffering

Everton is a club that is good enough that you can expect us to have a chance of winning every game we play but we are still limited enough that you can often feel hard done by if we don't.

Get ready for moments of intense joy and moments of bewildering frustration, usually in the same 90 minutes

Hopefully you stick with us ;)

Welcome mate, this might be useful: :)

The most important thing to know is, we will always sell our best players and we rarely get recognition for our history but we are Everton, we are born not manufactured.

There are few clubs the world over that can boast a prouder history. We've played more games at the highest level than any other English club. We're fourth in the all-time number of league titles table. We're the fifth-most successful club in English football history. We have more firsts than you can shake a stick at.

We are sleeping giants, with the good times perpetually just around the corner.

But honestly, I think this is a good time to start supporting us. There's a sense that a new age is beginning under Martinez.

The nature of football fans means that newcomers can sometimes get a hard time from a small minority. Don't let them grind you down, or turn you away - every club has its berks.

Welcome!

Ok thank you I've done a fair amount of research mainly on the history of the rivalry with Liverpool but I'll keep researching. Looking foward to the upcoming season!

Thank you all for your feedback it's been great I'm already loving the fan base you guys accepted me as one of you and that means a lot. Just wondering what your predictions are for this season (optimistic of course). I'm thinking third place and finishing above Liverpool.

Hi.Principe15,
The best way for you to catch up with Everton's history would be to invest a a billion buck's to build a new stadium!
Be selective with the places you look for your information as a lot of our own supporters run the management team down but compared to what we had before, the present board are doing an amazing job, now I have said that, you might get other supporters? giving you their point of view.
Where do you live? maybe there is supporters club nearby, if not then start one. I am seventy in a couple of weeks and have been a fan virtually all of my life, through good times and some not so good. We have not been relegated to a lower division since the fifties, I believe Allen might have been slightly wrong when he said we had been in the top league more than any other team, I believe that honour belongs to Arsenal putting us in second place. Anyway, welcome and keep sending any good players {like Tim} over to us.

Aye, Arsenal have the record for the most consecutive years in the top flight as they have never been outside the top division. Everton have spent the most total years in the top flight as we are 8 years older than them and only spent 1 year outside the old first division/premier league.

There's a technicality as well that Everton have been champions of the top flight for more years than any other club. As we won the league just prior to the WW1 and WW2 breaks, we have actually stood as English champions for a grand total of 21years even though we've only won the league 9 times (4th most behind United [20], Liverpool [19] and Arsenal [13])

Thanks for the advice! There is a supporters club near me in Boston, Ma.
