New contract for Stones

John had a great season last year and performed very well at the Euros. Pep has awarded him a bumper contract as he is still relatively young.

What are people's thoughts on this? I seem to remember the boy caught a lot of stick on here when he was with us. I was gutted when he left as I hoped he could realise his potential with us....

I was until I saw this bizarre thread in the Everton forum.

Meh. If he came back here he would still do the same silly mistakes. He's not a VVD who comes in and instantly makes you have a better marshalled defence.

He's a liability who gets away with it because he can (usually) pass a ball and plays in a team where they have 70% possession. I might look like a reasonable defender too in those circumstances.

Excellent footballer, getting better as he gets older. More consistent now and ironing out his silly mistakes. Dont see the best of players like him until they reach 26/27. Well done to the lad, pleased for him.
