Wile E Toffee

Player Valuation: Free Transfer
Hey all from sunny or hurricane ravaged Orlando FL, USA. Been a blue since 2013 when my son introduced me to the game and NBC began carrying the Prem in the US. Why Everton? Well, aside from enjoying having to fend off constant threats of extinction for my sports teams, I have family ties to Liverpool (the city, my last name is Sefton). And red is just a miserable and evil color. So, the choice was easy. It's the living ever since that's been hard.

Hoping you can help. My wife and I will be in London early December. We can easily travel up on Saturday for the derby. At my age it's probably a once ever chance. Are third party ticket sites reliable? If tix are obtainable, where would you recommend staying Saturday night? What do we do before the game to get a legit taste of the traditions? Where do we have a nice victory dinner? What other things should we see in the city? I know all of these can have a variety of answers, but any help is appreciated!

Thanks in advance

Bill

Hello mate.

Just jump on a train, get off at Lime St, head straight to the Lisbon and explain you're new in town. They'll sort you out from there.

the Lisbon, huh? I think you might be taking the piss...
thanks anyway
It's a standing joke here mate.

For tickets you've got a number of options. The first thing I'd do is contact the club, they are generally pretty helpful with fans coming from overseas, but they mighr be getting a lot of requests now. Then there's the official resale platform and you can ask in the spares thread on here.

Hotels - depends on your budget, there's a lot of choice.

Traditions - everyone has their particulars but you won't go far wrong with a bevvy on Dale St or one of the better locals before and after the game and a stop at a chippy.

There's a lot to do in Liverpool but if you're only there overnight the match will eat most of your time.

Victory dinner? I wouldn't get over your skis on that...

Dunno if Derby tickets will be easy to score. Signing up on the Everton site as an official member will give you priority access to buy tickets when they go on sale, plus official resale. All you do is wake up at 5am, sweat, and not get the tickets you want; easy. If you're flexible the Wolves match on the 4th is probably more attainable. Travel via train from London Euston to Lime St is easy, but I can't explain how it works because I'm just a dumb Yank myself and it's like some sadistic secret code imprinted on the British psyche. But check out the britrail flex pass if you are traveling the right number of days. Have a fun time and get a drink in City Centre or County Rd before* the match, you'll get plenty of recommendations but the Lisbon is a GOT favorite to get your fill.

*maybe after, depending on which match you see

on the city itself, lots of stuff to see. I'm partial to the Anglican and the museums; City Centre is a good walk to see what's going on. not sure what will be happening in Dec but I'm sure something will be going on in town worth checking out.

Ahhh, I hadn't clocked he was talking about the derby. The last derby at Goodison... I mean keeping it real, absolutely no chance and even if you do get a sniff @Wile E Toffee you'll pay a fortune.
Plus chances are it'll get moved so I wouldn't build a trip around it.
I'd aim for another match to be honest mate.

A midweek game against Wolves is really a great option for what he's trying to do. @Wile E Toffee I don't care if your wife is presenting research at LSE to foreign dignitaries, tell them all to 'koff and get tickets to a match a Goodison*.

*Or tell her good luck and you'll save half on train and match tickets.

Welcome to the forum, got to ask which is worse; living slap bang in hurricane alley or supporting Everton?

Only joking, we all know the answer.

To echo the sentiment, tickets for the final derby at Goodison will be gold dust and it's almost certain to be moved for the TV or police anyway.

Which is worse? Fair question, with both, you know the pain is coming. At least we can evacuate from hurricanes if necessary. No escaping Everton. Thanks for all the input. Once in a lifetime, so I'm ok with the ticket prices (or at least resigned to it). How much warning is usually given for moving the game? Is it likely to change date or just time?
