One of those events in life when you'll always remember where you were and what you were doing as it unfolded live on television. A truely awful day.

When they actually went down I was stood on the bridge of my sub with an M60. We had just got in off of patrol and was supposed to be on R&R. Got recalled when the planes hit.

amazing pictures, awful incident, sort of like the Monroe, Elvis, JFK, Cobain,incidents we'll maybe never know the truth of what really went down and who hand their hand in what, a lot of conspiracies over who was really involved and to what ends, but I don't know the answers to the bigger picture, just been a lot of debate and all, over what really happened that day, questions unanswered and all that. 
Was in Monte Carlo when we got news of what happened, was down on the marina and someone said 'get inside now, you must see this' or words to that effect and we went in and nobody said a word, we were struck into silence over what we were witnessing.
some People say the Diana Incident was on a level in terms of global notice, and recognition to what happened in NY, which may have a element of truth about it, you can't compare the two.
In fact right now, and sleep and fatigue may be a factor, but comparing the two events in terms of shock horror is perhaps a crock of cow craps.
3'000 innocent individuals losing their lives or one member of the royal family, who was I add, not even Royalty.

still makes my hairs stand up whenever I see pictures or news footage of that nightmare day over eight years ago now.
