I've never shopped at Netto in this country but I've been to one abroad. *Gasps*. If I'd said that when I was at school I would have been bullied for eternity.

Lidl is decent though as is Aldi, I did all my shopping at the London Road Lidl in my first year of uni. £7.50 for a bottle of Vodka that was guaranteed to make you forget you're whole night out. I seem to remember their own brand of Coke was pretty damned good too, and for something like 25p.

I miss living on London Road. Lidl was great, B&M was right opposite Lidl and Branded Bargains was down the road, although one time I bought a tin of Spaghetti that came out in a solid lump, nearly spewed. There were some sights to be seen there though, especially at night, tramps approaching you and asking if you wanted to buy some dishwasher tablets, or some coffee.

Netto shut down?

Good. You Nettits should be ashamed of yourselves.

That said I do have a soft spot for Lidl and Aldi. Assuming what you're buying isn't a 'meat' product, that is. Can't beat weird cereal and snacks that are half the price but just as ace, or even acer.

dude! Their bratwurst sausages are the best! Agree though that some of the processed and frozen meat products leave something to be desired...

Not been in a netto for years,I love shopping at aldi though.... where else can you buy a £6 litre of whisky AND a chainsaw in the same aisle?

I went to Netto a lot in first year, mainly because it was very cheap and allowed me to live. However, I stopped going when I saw flies in their freshly baked bread. Not for me.
