BlueLlama

10/11/17 TWAIN CRUSH DAY
Anyone use these - thinking of sacking off Sky Movies and subscribing to one. I'm just sceptical that at £6 a month there won't be much choice or will be just old stuff.

Do you get new films? Does one have more stuff than the other?

Llama needs to know

The films aren't great on Netflix but it is improving.

I like it for the tv series and documentaries. It is good like, worth having if you only have freeview but not sure whether it is worthwhile if you subscribe to SKY.

Both are pretty whack for films. Fact

If you like Prison Break, 24 and other TV shows like that, it's not bad. I've tried both and expected a lot better to be honest, but for the price I guess it's not so bad

I have both, but they're... well, awful really.

Netflix is really good for old TV shows (like Arrested Development) but if you're looking for modern films you're going to be disappointed.

Lovefilm is slightly better on the films, but still nothing to write home about. Netflix has barely been updated for 12 months and it's rare you find anything more interesting to watch than Blue Streak or Air Force One. Its like an online DVD car boot sale.

It's a shame as the American version of Netflix is apparently brilliant; but we're screwed over as per usual.

Yep. the American version is "okay" (not brilliant, it used to be, but when they upped their subscription prices so the on-demand stuff was separate they cut a lot of the content).

I've heard LF is better in the UK than Netflix, but that they're both pretty Gashington Stanley.

This is pretty much what I've found, Netflix was alright for some older TV Series, although they have up to series 4 of Breaking Bad so wins points for that, but I always found Love Film better for films. Both average overall but I'd probably pick Love Film over Netflix, don't ever expect to see a recent blockbuster Netflix though.

I've had both on free trials and was thoroughly underwhelmed by both of them. Like others I found the selection to be very poor. Netflix also seemed to take ages to buffer too, sometimes up to an hour weirdly.

That's definitely weird. Over here I have Hulu, Netflix, HBOGO and other stuff like NBC.com etc. Netflix is the only one that uses Silverlight (the others use Flash) and I've always found the adaptive streaming technology to be far superior to all the others.

Rumour has it, can you can do some trick with your IP address and get the American Netflix instead, which was pretty ace

Sounds pretty legal huh

if you've got kids, netflix is ok. Has a decent choice for the little'uns, but in 7 mths I've yet to watch anything. Mrs uses lovefilm but i rarely watch any of those. She says it's ok but not worth the extra money if you already have sly movies.

Lovefilm can also be used for xbox games. Not sure if it does PS3.

my mate does it and insists its legal, he doesnt even download anything 'free' so I think hes telling the truth

Tried Netflix after two years with Blockbuster, but found it far too limited. Gave LF a shot a few months back and it's surprisingly good, disc selection features a lot of oop and World stuff (unlike BB), as well as Hollwood, and there's thousands of films online; they have almost the complete work of Wim Wenders online, but not a single Eddie Murphy. Always have try before you pay deals too-give it a shot and cancel if you don't like mate.

Well I heard that too, but it sounded a tad shady to me, ha

Like when I used to pay 29p for an Album off some Russian website, but as I was paying for it, I felt it was somehow technically legal
