Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit

Thought I'd do a thread for the other big racer.

Got this today and just had a little play. Have to say both elements (cops and racers) are great fun. Not tried online yet but will be having a proper sesh on it tomorrow.
It seems to have taken bits from Burnout too which is only a good thing!

I'll be getting GT5 later for more serious car type action but this is too much fun!

I had the original of both Need For Speed and NFS: Hot Pursuit. They were both immensely fun in their time, but I went away from the series with the stupid rice-rocket game version, and all of the cash-in releases.

The two NfS's I've played have been amongst the two worst games I've played in my life.

I'd need some crazy selling on an NfS title before I'd dedicate a minute of my life into playing it.

Actually, I'd go as far as saying Burnout Paradise is the only driving game worse that I've played in the last 10 years. Then South Park Rally on the PSX takes the retard cake as the worst game I've ever played full-stop.

After Need For Speed 3 came the original Hot Pursuit. Then it got crap they started the Hot Pursuit sequels, then introduced NFS Underground and then all the other spinoffs. I have great memories of the first games, the first being a port to the PC from the 3DO (the creation of Trip Hawkins, the guy who bankrolled EA in the beginning).

If this new Hot Pursuit goes back to the roots, based on gameplay first, before the graphics, it should be good. If it is just another arcade cash-in, I would steer clear.

Mate, it's a tad unfair to paint this new one with the same brush, because EA have got a new developer -- Criterion, and their track record with the Burnout games is excellent imo. And the reviews for this new NFS are all praising it, so I'd say this new change has worked.

Either you are referring to the post below:

Or you didn't read this post fully. I was giving a quick history then said:

:) By the reviews, EA got the series back to its roots, which is a damn good thing.

It seems so.

I'm hoping my rental service send me it out pronto. I've got enough to play, like, but I'm lacking a racer.

Enslaved
Halo Reach
Fifa 11
Fallout: New Vegas
Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

All sitting there waiting to be played to completion. There aren't enough hours in the day!

I agree mate, I am still doing the original Assassins Creed 2, Mass Effect 2, Forza 3, Reach and we have Lego Harry Potter and New Vegas on the way. And then Cataclysm comes out in a couple of weeks.....my kids are gonna love this...all these games to play, and only a finite amount of time to squeeze it all in!

On the positive side, there' like no games until February now, so plenty of time to play catch up over Chrimbo.

Mass Effect 2 and AC2 are the bee's knees, by the way. If ME2 was a woman, she would have about 4 restraining orders against me, and I'd be on the sex offender's register.

Played NFS a bit more today.

It's good. However, im finding it a bit sandy already. I'm doing the racer career and was expecting a bit more police camera action Erm... Action!! I guess that all comes later on and in the Cops career.
It's a decent racer though, good car selection and good feeling of speed.

Still not tried online yet.
