Ok, ok... I've been away way too long, but here I am with my thoughts of this season.
With regards to the depth and injuries of this season I give our performance a solid 8/10. We did manage to finish fifth again even with the lousy start to the season and an injury list the length of Abramovitch's checkbook. We did manage to grab points of all the "top 4". We reached the FA-Cup final and didn't have an easy way there either. We beat AV, Pool and ManU on the way, all 3 of them going into Europe this coming season, and gave Chelsea a good game in the final.
The only reason I'm not giving a higher score is the bad run in Europe. Yes we faced a good side in Standard Liege, but still... to get a higher rating we should have managed to reach and pass the groupstage at least.
But the early europe bow out might have been a blessing in disguise since we then could focus on the league and got our great run there. With the number of injuries we had this winter our players would have been burned out with the extra matches we would have had with the international games added.
Rodwell and Gosling have emerged as two more players that have showed that they can compete at the highest lvl, Fellaini doesn't collect yellow cards as a fat lady grabs candybars anymore and we have shown a mentality too bounce back from trailing behind to win games this season.
All in all a solid 8 for me.
