Came across this odd recommendation while perusing youtube and I'm blown away by the guy's groove. He doesn't over-complicate things like many modern drummers try to do. I see why MJ stuck with him for so long.

I was on a course in Cannock and the pub next door to the hotel had an open mike night, my gigging days are long gone but a succession of guys got up with varying degrees of competency, then this little fella shuffled in the pub, he got up after a bit and played the best blues and slide blues I've ever seen/heard, He was terrific.

I would add Mark Knopfler. I can jam many hours to his solo in the live versions of Sultans of Swing.

J Mascis has long been my guitar hero, love the texture he is able to build up on tracks, plus he can't really sing so I class all Dinosaur Jr songs as Instrumentals.
