Music - Horror Concept Albums

From back before the Manics became a Brit Pop band.

The song is about the holocaust. A subject that is pure horror in and of itself, but the arrangement, sound choices and production (especially in the intro with the sample from the Nuremburg trials) only enhance the tone.

Top Ten record of all time. The effect it had on me when it came out.

It’s a Broadcast record with Focus Group! Broadcast are quite simply the best band of the last 25 years, or they were.

Yeah, I was at work so I just typed something as quickly as possible tbh. There is the soundtrack to that Barbican sound studio (?) Film too

I'd say the album is more focus group led than broadcast, from what I remember. Not listened to it in a while

The Under The Skin soundtrack is one of my faves. But here are some more:

I've actually got that Suspiria album. Had it since 1977 when the film was shown over here. Right from the start of the movie the music creates that impending sense of doom that's impossible to shake off. One of my all time favourite films, made even better by the soundtrack.

I freaked myself once with an SH 101. Did a couple of buckets then plugged my headphones in and explored its capabilities. Near jumped out of my skin on a couple of occassions ?
And that with a monophonic synth too lol squelchy acid goodness! legendary instrument. along with MC-202 and of course TB-303 helped create that acid sound.

here's some moody sci-fi sounds i got out of a Virus...with this baby you can start from a basic INIT tone and end up traversing the cosmos!
(video should automatically play later in the upload):

tho' youtube-listeners give most feedback to this horror-movie inspired preset from a cheap rompler...i just held down some keys, turned the filter and pinged the odd high note...epic result, and props to whoever designed this patch:

Christ, what an incredibly black howl of existential angst that LP is. Probably not listened to it since the '90s. Best thing that band did by a mile, not arsed with them otherwise.

Thanks a lot for these lads - haven’t had a chance to check them all out yet but I definitely will!

Had a great week recording a couple of songs for the first time in years so definitely want to do some more when I get the time in future!
