the thing about moyes is - he's getting worse every year that goes by. i mean he was never this bad with us, certainly not 5 years ago. the style of football never bothered up until a couple of years ago when i knew we had the right players to play good footy. we started last season on fire and playing beautiful stuff and then all of a sudden, we got to jan in a great position and we reverted back to turgid rubbish - that's what infuriated me about the style of football.
it's much like a batsman in cricket or any young/new sportsman coming into international level. they start of well and being an unknown quantity, opposition don't know much about them. after time, analysis can be produced and you can figure out weaknesses/exploitations. that's what's happened over time and just like wenger at arsenal, moyes is too stubborn to change his ways and adapt.
we all predicted his 60 min subs yesterday and they happened literally on the dot. 2-0 down at HT and he waits a customary 15 mins before changing anything and by then it's usually too late. same as our 3-3 draw vs villa last season at GP. Heitinga should have been off after about 20 mins, he stayed on until we were 3-1 and benteke had bullied him all game and got two goals. we quickly came back to draw after he took him off, but it was all too late - it was a game we needed to win.
he wasn't making these same mistakes/being as stubborn earlier in his career. i think the failures have built up over the years and he's lost that bit of braveness that he had at the start of his time here.
he needs to learn to adapt now that people are exploiting his weaknesses. i could barely revel in the victory yesterday, it was that easy it wasn't even a contest. martinez bossed him with ease and he didn't change anything.
