MPs’ pay will rise by 10 per cent next year, taking their salaries to £74,000, the new head of Parliament’s expenses watchdog has said

Yes...they deserve anything you can give them. Job #1 I'd swerve because of how hard it is...massively stressful combined with everyone judging your every move. Shut your face if you disagree

I just think that the money would be better spent elsewhere. It'd be interesting to see MP's salaries overtime vs. inflation. It is a hard job, but there are a disproportionate number of bells.

I suppose we'll get some MP's stating " It's a disgrace for us to get a pay rise of this size, while my constituents are struggling ".etc
I bet they still take it, though

That could be any of them mate.

It's a reasonable salary for the job. It's the expenses that are unreasonable along with the process that more or less ensures the job only goes to certain types of people.

Like @Groucho I work in the public sector. My pay was frozen for 3 years, I got a 1% increase last year and will do so this year. Beyond fuming but what else would you expect from them?

...agree, its hard not to be cynical.

Its all a bit depressing on the political front, real concerns over what is going on in Ukraine and with ISIL. Oh well, off to the gym for an old man's jog.

My name was chosen by the MP Bessie Braddock, who was visiting the hospital the day I was born ,
She WAS a proper representative of the people. Not many like that anymore
