The ones that I got with my Ipod fell apart and I'm after some new ones to replace them.

What does the board suggest?

Pretty much sums up my opinion on Beats. I've had them on my head twice, and been utterly underwhelmed on both occasions. I actually got better sound out of a standard Turtle Beach headset for my XBox then I've ever heard from Beats. And I wouldn't recommend Turtle Beach either.

In short, all budget headsets are crap, and Beats are budget headsets at a premium price overhyped to death by clever product placement.

get yourself a pair of bose IE2 in ear headphones. You will not buy better, and their customer service is beyond excellent.

I've got a pair of Beats by dre studio and Tours, a pair of Bose in ears and a pair of the in ear apple ones, the apple in ears are great, but the tours don't tangle at all, and the sound quality is amazing.

A price range would help because you can easily get a road that ends up in you spending hundreds. If you're not looking to spend too much cash the best budget ones I found when I was looking six months or so back were: Sony MDR-EX57LP.

I then also spent a couple of hundred on some Sennheiser to replace the Sony studio monitor headphones I had for ten years which were awesome but that's another story. Sounds like you're looking for something more portable so I'd take a look at the MDR-EX57LP. Honestly, audiophile stuff aside, as long as you check reviews and get something that's 3.5 stars plus the rest of it is just personal preference (do you need crazy heavy bass or more clarity) and what style you personally find comfortable to wear. Not to mention the headphones can only do so much -- if you're listening to itunes downloaded music via an iphone it won't sound as good as a FLAC file on a better MP3 player.

This.

Sennheiser make nice headphones IMO. Never used a pair of Bose headphones but if their amps and speakers are anything to go by I wouldn't bother.
