MP pay rise

Footballers are paid the salary that their employers deem worthy. That's how capitalism works.

MPs though are free to decide how much they want to be paid. They're meant to represent us, but how can you do that when you live in a totally different world?

Not anymore - that's the problem. That decision was handed over to some stupid quango after the expenses scandal.

The worst thing about that graph is that it is grossly undervalues how much more some MPs make. £15 dinner allowance, cabs, second homes etc etc etc

They also seem to find the time to make a lot of extra money acting as "consultants" for various interest groups or companies etc.

I have lost all respect for the lot of them. Once they start applying the same terms and conditions to themselves that they impose on the rest of us in the public sector then I might start to think otherwise.......

And yet you could become an MP far, far easier than a professional footballer, lawyer or doctor. Then you can have a year on year 11% pay rise :)
