I prefer to go back to the Moyes threads in 2019.

Much more fun reading.

Evidently, we're a fickle bunch.

Enjoy.

Dave keeps saying ive been consistent regarding Moyes, I am curious what I said.
What about Beto Believers vs Dominic Devouts?

Been a lively debate that one too. I've seen the Moysettes vs Dychettes battle lines bleed over into that territory recently also.
Im neither, I supported Dom when he was our Number 9 and now im fully behind Beto.

I think Beto is benefitting from us having a much better Manager then we had for most of Doms time.

Most games Doms thread is busier than Betos tho, even when he doesnt play, RENT FREE.

There's a very good chance I made disparaging comments about Moyes. I've grown. Hindsight is a beautiful thing.

Most of that is fair.

I think there were definitely a lot of judgments made on Beto by people that at the time they were made were definitely not being given the caveat of the fact he was playing under Dyche. That goalpost has been moved recently.

Playing under Dyche is something that got referenced constantly when folk were defending Dom's horrific performances and goal returns but never got extended to Beto.

Beto was just called crap and a KFC no mark not fit for the shirt. Only now are people saying "Well that's all down to Dyche" and not admitting that they got it very, very wrong on a very good player.

As I say, it's very interesting seeing the manager debate bleed into people refusing to acknowledge they had Beto wrong.

For every post praising Beto there's about 5 making excuses for Dom would be my explanation for the discrepancy.

I do think it's fair to finally have a debate, in either thread, now that Beto has been given an actual run of starting matches for the comparison to actually be fair but it is not surprising that some don't even want to entertain the conversation because it's too threatening to the narrative they've built in their heads where Dom is the most maligned, hard done by player that has ever been subjected to playing for us.

Apparently we shouldn't compare strikers because one is injured and doesn't get to play under Moyes so it isn't fair or something.

I had Beto wrong, but I did say I would be willing to judge ALL players under Moyes rather than Plop.

Dom went about 90 games without a goal under Plop, he scores in his 2nd and should have scored in his 1st under Moyes.

But as much as I like Dom and didnt like Beto, I will support every Number 9 we have, apart from Niasse and others who I just really hated.

I dont think I ever hated Beto, I just thought he was really rubbish.

Last seasons Derby will stay with me forever.

But then so will the Palace game under Lampard.
Quite.

This is an interesting tangent. The city game for koeman? The arsenal game for martinez? I've blanked allardyce out - cant remember a game, Ferguson gets the chelsea game, Carlo at anfield, Joe the final, there's a few games of Moyes mk I like, the 4-4 at old trafford and the Fiorentina Goodison game and spurs away for a first win for something like 22 years, Walter got a great away at west ham, start getting patchy here - walker was like being put into a blender and just left on being turned into pulp forever. I suppose the highs such as they are stick out like they do against the backdrop of agony inflicted.
