David Moyes insisted Everton deserved something from their trip to Aston Villa.

The Toffees fell behind to an early Luke Young goal and couldn't muster an equaliser despite having more possession, more chances and no less than 18 corners.

And Moyes said he was happy with his players, but admitted he was disappointed not to have emerged from the game with at least a point.

He said: "I can't fault the players I thought they were excellent and went about their job really well from the first minute to the last. They (Villa) got a goal after a lapse of concentration.

"The play we had was fine but just at the moment we can't score.

"That has been the case in the other games, we have had a lot of the ball but we are lacking a bit of craft in the final third.

"We had an awful lot of the ball without making loads of great opportunitites."

The result means the Blues are still looking for a first Premier League victory this season.

And Moyes said: "Obviously we are massively disappointed because we wanted to start much better than we have done.

"But there's not an awful lot I can say to the players after that.

"You never want to go into an international break after losing. The league table doesn't look good after three games. We ended last season on a high and we wanted to carry that into this season."

Is there any way we can get Moyes to manage our finances and transfers, and someone else to do the on the pitch stuff? Please.
