Moyes' transfer targets - my theory

Player Valuation: £15m
With all these daily rumours it is near impossible to keep a track of who we are after and not. I however believe that Moyes is actually only doing what he has said that he would do all the time - go for good young British talent.

The rumours linking us to Cana, Gonzales, Diarra, M'Bami and Joaquin are all media speculation. The links to Huddlestone, Ledley and Ramsey are not. This is where Moyes will spend the majority of his transfer kitty - £16 m. should bring them to Goodison.

But just like the last few seasons Moyes will also spring a major signing surprise - a top central midfielder, which just might be one the ones that we have been linked to.

If not hindered by regulations Fernandes will also return on loan for the next season.

Am I totally of the mark here...

I doubt we'll get Ramsey. I just can't see us pipping Man utd to him. I'd take Huddlestone for 5/6 million. Anything else would be a bit expensive in my opinion. Ledley is a good talent but he's still a kid. I think we need a bit more experience.

Fernandes could join on loan. We'll have to see what happens. I think Moyes wants him but its up to Fernandes whether he wants to go out on loan again and obviously what Valencia want to do.

To be honest I'd like to see one or two foreigners in. I'm all for British talent coming to Everton but there needs to be a good mix in my opinion. Anyway, I trust Moyes to get the right players in.

The problem with that toxteth blue is moyes can pick who he wants but will the board mess most of the signings up? i think they will. forget about all these big names coming to gp (we will loose out on every one of them) and lets welcome the likes of stephen hunt, if sunderland don't get him that is.

i don't like Huddlestone, not sure why, but i would like both Ramsey and Ledley here.

off topic i know but if the new 6+5 rule comes in, will clubs need 6 English players or will it be 6 British players? could make signings like these more important.

If it is british it has to be european? we are all european and what he is trying to do goes against all the employment laws.

Many years ago it was british

i think huddlestone ramsey ledley would be a steal at 16m. if we could pull that off we'll be sorted even if no one else comes in. if the 'surprise' was a world class right back i would be very impressed

Cardiff value Ledley and Ramsey at 5 mill each. Huddlestone is a 4 mill player max in my opinion. 14 mill for the 3 is a fair price. But if 16 mill guaranteed the signatures then I would bend.

I am with you on the right back also. My dream is a world class right back(I am open to ideas) and a holding midfielder(Bradley if a bit more experienced would be perfect), Manny can do this job(Loan though as I guess the total price to own him would be exceeding 18 mill, 12 mill to valencia and 6 mill to his third party).

On the manny issue I do believe his initial form will race back once he gets the 3rd party ownership cloud from above his head. I think the farce of the last 12 months hit him harder than any of us are giving him credit for.

Maybe add these 3 players also and we have a massive swoop for less than 30 mill

£16m for Ledley, Huddlestone and Ramsay?

Pfffttt.

I'd rather buy a proven quality midfielder, so say Lucho Gonzales and then grab someone like Gera on a free for the numbers.

Ramsay is an exciting prospect.
Huddlestone is touch and go, i'd expect him to prove to be a good player but not of the calibre to take us to the next level.
Ledley doesn't have the pace to be a Premiership winger. He's comfortable on the ball and looks to be a fairly intelligent player, but he wouldn't really improve us.

I appreciate what you are saying here mate. But. I feel his only problem is work rate and work ethic. I saw stu pearce get him fired up for England U21 games and he was impressive. I think he will be like the Yak(remember we had the same worries about his work rate), Let Davie get his hands on his football brain and he will teach him the Everton way, just like he did with The Yak.

What you think buddy?

I do think Hudd could be a good player for. He has all the attributes to control and game and dictate the pace. His passing is immense and that would be useful to anyone. His height and physical attributes are also very useful.

Only problems he has is fitness. People have called him slow and yes he is but his game isn't based around pace and Osman and Carsley wheren't fast either and they formed out first choice partnership last season.

Same as I put in my last post bud. Yak had the same problem till Davie got his hands on him. I posted here last closed season that I wanted this player. I think we could mold him to be a star. He has the raw attributes we need.

One of my mates is in employment law and he says there is no way fifa can implement a 6+5 rule or anything that restricts members of other european member states from plying their trade in England. It is a non-starter as it is a breach of human rights. We could maybe do what they do in the Scotland where they have a gentlemans agreement to have so many under 21's from our country in the squad or what they do in the CL where you have to have so many homegrown players in the squad but teams like Arsenal will still get round it by buying foreign talent at 16 and once they have been in their academy for 3 years they then become nationalised

So despite not wanting to this has turned into a "is Hudd or Ramsey worth the fee?" The idea of the thread was to see if anyone thought that as I that Moyes is actually just doing what he said he would: "buy young British talent" and "work on a few ideas regarding Manny."
