David Moyes is looking at a new five year deal as manager of Everton and is believed to be heading for discussions with Chairman Kenwright at some point in the new year.
"Me and the chairman have just mentioned it - weve not got any further than that at this present time but I have a great relationship with my chairman and were both comfortable with the situation," he said.
A new contract would take Moyes up to a possible 11 years in charge, and make him one of the longest serving bosses in the league, along with Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger.
"It may put me up there in length but it certainly doesnt put me up in quality because theyve won trophies," he stressed. "Ive not won anything yet so from that point of view Ive got a long way to go.
"The team are playing the best in the six years Ive been here.
"I think thats a message to a lot of chairmen out there. Give your managers a bit more time, instead of having a knee-jerk reaction over sackings and changing things around."
"Were a little bit short maybe in one area and if the right player was available Im sure wed look to do something but it would be more likely to be a loan player than a buy.
"Im very happy with the players weve got. The way theyve played this season, they are getting better."
