Probably get a lot of stick for this but I think there are signs that Moyes is starting to get it right tactically:

Starting Hibbert last night.
Starting Denis against Fulham.
Bringing on Vic against Villa.
Bringing on Straq & Vic against West Brom.

His use of Vellios as a sub, Drenthe as a sub, couple of astute signings, reliance on Osman.

I've been at Blackburn away, West Brom away so I know how bad we've played this season. But given that we lost Arteta and Pienaar it's understandable that we're horrible to watch.

Still I think Moyes is now starting to get it right.

What do you lot think?

I think ultimately he knows best, I for one was furious last night when he dropped duffy but hibbo had the game of his life! Despite sometimes his decisions seem ridiculous, he is the one who sees his players every single day, therefore every decision he makes will get the best out of the team.

i still think we play to much long ball, the players he has, and especially the midfield he now has at his diposal should be playing top notch footy. moyes usualy struggles when he has options and the majority of the time (in my opinion) gets it wrong. lets see what he does with all the options and formations he has at his disposal. from my experience i am not confident.

Do you think Moyes realised that Arteta and Pienaar leaving took too much creativity out of the team????

I think he started hibbo instead of duffy last night to counteract dzeko as weird as that seems when you consider the height advantage.

If you look at the games duffy played, the mistakes he made were generally switching off, and losing his man for a split secone like happened against bent for villa a few times. Now dzeko is very good at that, slipping his man and getting to either the front or back post unmarked. Im sure moyes was worried bout this and went for the experienced head over him

He played a midfield of Drenthe, Donovan, Gibson, Fellaini and Cahill, 5 players who can score!!!! Brilliant.

When he starts with Neville and Heitinga in midfield along side Coleman I can't support him. He's done that way too many times this year, been way too negative and it's cost us.

Don't get carried away; Moyes got tonight right. He's generally good with the bigger teams at home, he can set up a solid defensive unit and most fans would be happy to walk away with a point against one of these clubs. However he still gets it terrbily wrong against lesser teams at Goodison; Blackburn being the latest example. He'll always revert to Cahill being played beind a striker and always wants the midfield (including so called wingers) back behind the ball as soon as possession is lost and he still cannot influence a game from the touchline. I though Denis should have pulled off 5-10mins before he did, the lad was running on empty and i felt so sorry for him. He ran more last night than Saha did all season.

Last nights win was good, the team played well as a unit (with special praise for Johnny H, Hibbo, Felliani and Denis) but to say Moyes is getting tactially right now is a huge shout.

He basically pulled a middle finger to the critics last night.

It'll be interesting to see how he implements both Pienaar and Jelavic into the starting eleven though.

I would love to see a 4-4-2 myself.

4-2-3-1. Has been happening for a few matches now. The difference from before is that he's playing Cahill a bit deeper, he has Donovan, and he has two good, healthy CMs in Fellaini and Gibson.

It's sort of predictable though. The shame, as always, is that its taken until late January to basically start the season.

I thought we were set up quite good yesterday, Big Strac Ran his socks off and caused all sorts of problems.
I think against wigan though we should be 4-4-2!

This issue about bringing Hibbert in as a master stroke last night: I dont think you can read anything of the sort into it. Tony had a good game and shuffled across especially well to get Neville out of gaol on occasion. But the way we set up was to pull our m/f players back very deep and it gave the back four a real shield to mop up behind from. Duffy would probably have been ok behind that too.
