Moyes doesn't know his transfer budget!!?

It's pretty much that. In his head he has a figure of pretty much "£0" but the board may turn round and say "We're talking a gamble and loaning £20m" or they may say "We HAVE to sell Rodwell to make ends meet, so you'll get anything more than £10m".
 
There's no way he can know what his budget will be at this point. The board isn't going to give him any money (although I'm sure he's still desperately hoping for some). Moyes will have to sell to buy again and until he starts getting concrete offers that he feels are worthy, he can't start planning on how to spend it. Unfortunately this gives other clubs a head start and we might find ourselves picking over the scraps yet again.

This doesn't mean he can't be ready when we do have money. I'm sure our scouts are out scouring Europe right now, looking at every possible transfer target available. He'll prefer players 25 or younger who are just starting to develop their skills and are fairly low in value. If we spend money, we have to be reasonably sure we'll make it back (or more) if we choose to sell the player at a later time. We can't afford to pay more than £5 million for an older player and, even then, the player would have to fill a direct need (i.e. winger/striker).

No club in their right mind would reveal how much money they have to spend to the media, if Everton had a budget of £10 million then any time they went in for a player then the other club would say well we know you have £10 million so if you want Joe Bloggs that is what he will cost you.
 

Think I'm going to swerve this for bit, too many topics savouring the doom.
 
I am with the the "doesn't know until he sells" group on this one. We know it's sell to buy. Hopefully we can offload some players for some decent funds.
 

Even if moyes had 15mill to spend, the last thing he is going to do is tell everyone, including us fans. Otherwise, 3mill players turn into 5mill, and 10mill players are pushing 15mill. Straight away the value of our money has diminished. I for one expect no money, disappointingly yes, but even if we did have money would only want to know when I see an exciting player, wearing an everton shirt, with moyes smiling next to him.

Any club publicising that they "have money" are asking to be ripped off.
 
Hopefully someone wants to buy Billy? And we might get some money from transfers of Yak and Yobo. If we don´t sell, there will be no money to spend. A nightmare could happen i City comes in for Bainsey....
