Moyes after three

I think that was the intent with Bily and Heitinga, compared to Saha or Jagielka for example. I guess that part of the problem is that, by shopping at the high end of the market, you have to be prepared to pay higher wages. You then get the rest of the squad seeking parity when it's time to negotiate their contract. Wenger's transfer policy at Arsenal isn't dissimilar to our own and they're genuine Premiership and Champion's League contenders, so it can be done.

Mate, I let your comparison of Everton to Barcelona a few pages back go, but this is ridiculous. Arsenal have a network throughout the African continent and feeder clubs all over the shop. They pay massive wages in excess of even the like of United and Liverpool last time I checked.

How on Earth are Everton comparable to that?

I think the point people miss when talking about transfer finances is that some fail to take into account what players earn , I always remember people saying about Allaardyce at Bolton " oh hes spent nothing and look at the job hes done " WRONG , Allardyce had a budget of say for example £10m a season but decied to sign players for no fees such as Okocha , Djorkaeff and Hierro but pay them huge amounts in wages.

If you sign a player for free and pay him £50k a week for three years thats almost £8m which works out similar to spending £4m on a player and paying him £25k a week for three years.
