Aye it wouldn't bother me mate, It's just handy to have an idea so we can look at an area and view some properties with a bit of knowledge in advance.
If you have any questions in particular about certain areas flick me a pm and I'll give you a heads up.

My missus and I have decided we shall move to NZ to be closer to family later this year and will be looking to set up home somewhere around Auckland.
I work in construction(foreman/ ganger) so will be searching for employment so any peeps with advice for a) affordable areas to live, we will rent initially
b) any decent construction companies to hit up.
c) if that dont work out, will take work in the hobbit version of The Lisbon...
Cheers guys.

usually plenty to rent on the N. Shore - Browns Bay, Mairangi Bay, Torbay, Albany.
Some parts of Hobsonville, Te Atatu, Greenhithe out West
I played for both East Coast Bays and Te Atatu - both play in Blue so there's your Saturdays sorted...Taking a punt here but they both have good O35's set ups.
Well Te Atatu did when I was running it

Ah sounds brill mate cheers, will look them areas up and see what sort of properties there are.
And would love to play over 35's, unfortunately I probably resemble Big Nev at his very biggest!

I am at fault for being here. I was relying on a family member who painted the rosiest picture in the world of the place, which was inline with the NZ tourism propaganda.

I just want people to be informed and know what they are getting into when they move here. It isn't the be all end all, it has pros and cons to living here, and I wish someone was forthcoming with me when I came here. I do realise I am responsible as I took that advice I received onboard and didn't independently check it.

Folk asked me how NZ had been sold to me as they are amazed folk keep moving there, they reckon the NZ Govt is selling a 60 year old ideal & probably make a fortune out of folk migrating as many leave having paid in but not having taken or been able to take a penny out.

Get there, after 3 years get full citizenship - go to Oz.

edit; like Dylan said(?) get a house with a woodburner - it does get cold and damp.

5 nowadays + the time to get a citizenship ceremony which can be lengthy.

was 3 for us but then an 18 month wait (at least), we can return and only have to do 3 cos they were the rules when we got our visas.

@Ollie d just one other thing to consider. Healthcare.

Unless you are a NZ resident, you will have to pay for all healthcare. Even as a resident, you will be expected to make payments for doctors visits.

Accidents are covered, but if you develop illness, you may end up having to pay silly money
Doctors cost money for everyone mate.
