Advice lads,

Although i have family in Liverpool and lived there for 6 years i am not from Liverpool, but do feel at home there. I am working darn sarf and have been away from Liverpool for about 7 years.

I am about to get married and settle down and as it costs and arm and a leg to buy somewhere in London we are weighing up or options to move back up to the NW. Do you think its wise moving to Liverpool? with regards jobs and generally a good place to live? Other options our Manchester and Belfast (due to her family)

All input welcome

Thanks

If it's cost mate and you are considering Manc as well then where I am atwixt the 2 would be ideal as it costs less than the 2 city's and only 17 miles to each.
It still aint the cheapest place around here but we do retain a certain decorum.

alway lived in a city, and just thinking thats the best place to get work,

haven not thought about area, i lived in Anfield and Smithdown . When we decide on the city we can think about the area

Liverpool is probably the best city to live in the North of England, it's still quite ****, but compared to the likes of Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, Hull and Sunderland, there's just more going on and it's less grim. The city of Liverpool is still trying to improve further as well upon the existing improvements that have occurred over the past 10 or so years, but make sure you're qualified in a certain area of work that is thriving in the city otherwise you may have to look outside the city for somewhere to work.

I prefer the City of Liverpool than Manchester although Salford has nice quay is nice for a day out and apartments - if you did decide to live in Manchester then only Southern parts are ok but expensive, places like Chorlton.

There is grim parts of the Liverpool like in all places but its has gone through a huge development. I have felt safe walk around the city centre on my own most times of day. People here will tell you the good and bad parts of the city. I prefer city centre living myself because of the shops etc.

Depends on what you want, flat -house city living etc. For example you can find some nice big houses in gorgeous locations for not a lot of money in Lancashire and still be near the cities of Manchester and Liverpool.

If your happy to commute to work, 30-60mins drive or less, you could live between Liverpool/Manchester and be fine for jobs in either.

I of course must saddle up the horse and make provisions if I need a shop.
