Movie Sequels - Better Than The Original?

I'm sure their are many but is anyone else of the opinion that not alot of sequels are better than the original?

Some examples are Transformers...didnt think 2 or 3 compared to the original. Spiderman and Pirates of the Caribbean are other series that were ruined and never compared to the original in my opinion.

Anyone else?

Are the only ones I rate better; I once briefly flirted with the idea that I enjoyed Die Hard II more than the original but soon came to my senses.

Trilogies are fine if there all made one after the other within a few years. What I can't stand is a classic trilogy from decades ago which was superb and should be left alone releasing a fourth film twenty years later instead of people coming up with original ideas. Ie Indianan jones, rocky 5 or whatever it went up to, terminator without arnie.

Green Street Hooligans (released as that title down under) was a great film. Sequel didn't even come close.

BTTF2? Controversial but now that I think about it you may be onto something. Both awesome films though. Part 3 was good but a long way behind 1 and 2.

Did you see Nike actually made those futuristic trainers from 2 and auctioned them off last year?

Only slightly though. I enjoyed it more, it was done cleverly and I like seeing past predictions of what a futuristic society near our time will look like - a bit weird, I know.
