Just to let you know MOT under COVID-19 changed on the 29th of June - the 6-month rule only due to cars due to that date get 6 months exception after that March 30th date you go on your normal date in August onwards -

So it changed 2 weeks ago?

Got mine done last Friday.
Yes its crazy a car in July gets six months freedom of no MOT - A car in August has to be done on the date from August the 1st onwards..... no publicity about that one - found out of a mate who works in a garage .....

It's literally on gov.uk since March and refreshed in Jue, and if it's on gov.uk, it will have gone out via several alerts. So rather than no publicity, you've just missed it.

Was wondering where to post this, reckoned this thread will do.

Im currently sat in a camp site in the transit I bought last December and fitted out as a camper. It was reasonably priced and physically good nick with a shiny new mot from a dealer. The price was good because there were a few odd looking dents about it - that looked like they'd been done with a hammer. Didn't bother me - lack of rust is more important.

On the way here, today, the brake wear light came on. I just investigated this and found the wires that were shorted when replacement pads were fitted had corroded. I cleaned the connection and the lights gone out.

However....

While under the van ive been driving around for 7 months, I noticed an odd mark on a rod and when I looked closely i noticed the steering arm has been half hacksaw through ffs! That and the dents tell a bit of a story.

An easy fix after I very carefully and very slowly deive home- but do I tell the rozzers that someone had attempted murder on the previous owners? I mean what's the protocol?

Bit shaken if I'm honest! 2nd hand cars eh? Check them.

Are you sure it isn't on you? I'm being a bit facetious there, but I definitely would report it if you believe it's that. It may not be*, but it isn't worth taking risks.

Ring 111 and report it.

*Botched / unfinished repair job.
