Sport undeniable is a wonderful thing. But it also has a dark underbelly, particularly once organised, professionalised, and monetised for mass entertainment. Not to mention the sub cultures and social factions that attach themselves to sports(s). But which is the most insidiously harmful?

Football - epic carbon footprint with travel, global tournaments, new infrastructure being built. Exploitation and human rights abuses in Qatar, buying up and destroying neighbourhoods, links to alcohol fuelled violence and / or domestic abuse. Not to mention banter lad culture and glory hunter fans.

Cricket. Tories. Tories everywhere. All of football's ecological ills too, just more Tory. Literally revel in burning stuff - the Ashes, ffs. All International competitions built on colonialism, glorifying it nonetheless. Gifted us Iain Botham, now trade goon for the govt. Pure evil sport IMHO.

Rugby. All of the above woes of cricket (bar Iain Botham) plus blazer sporting wrong uns inciting violence in the South. All in the name of 'cameraderie'. Inspires Welsh uprisings too, bizarrely. The Royals love it. THE most evil of Sports. Die.

Discuss and demonstrate workings out as appropriate please.

Ahem, Rugby League is nothing like the rugby you describe.

Still the working mans game, as is Rugby Union in all parts of Wales.

I thank you.

*James Rodriguez likes this ;)

I believe skydiving got labelled the worst sport for the environment not long ago, presumably because it happens all the time all over the world. Motorsport is obviously bad as well... in F1 its more to do with the logistics involved rather than the actual racing.
This is it - the travel involved to get people, equipment etc is probably what does a significant portion of damage. Flying teams and kit around constantly, plus spectator travel etc.
