I have a reasonably common surname yet can only recall one player with the same surname and he was ****e. Then looked around the Everton team and not too many regular surnames there and to my immediate recollection a first for all of them in the Premier League.

I was figuring that the most common surname throughout the history of the Premier League could be welsh ala Evans, Williams or Jones, possibly Ferguson. Just interested to know what the most common surname is.

According to talksport, in the premier league, there's been 11 williams & robinsons, 12 hughes & wrights, 13 smiths, 14 taylors, 16 jones & 19 Johnsons.

Just the 3 youngs, one of 131 surnames to have three or more PL players, including the likes of johansson and da silva.

Ha nice one matey, my first shout was Johnson to be fair, and I'm shocked because it's not necessarily as common as a Hughes or a Smith/Jones. But get in me, I got a question right for once. In my head.
