Morocco earthquake

To be perfectly honest I wasn't aware that part of the world lay on a fault line. Afraid the casualties will be massive. No way they could be protected from even a moderate earthquake.

I suppose anywhere with a mountain range is prone to earthquakes, that's how they get created I think.

I'm booked to go to Marrakech and an Atlas mountains tour in January. Not sure I'm keen on the tour now as they will no doubt still be trying to rebuild their villages and I don't want to be a disaster tourist, but they may also be desparate for the income. Will give it a couple of months before I do anything

I wouldn't be shocked is the final count is 10k+.

Late evening, lots of people indoors. They haven't had a major earthquake there for a long time, despite sitting in the European/African plate fault line.

They'll be no organised aid for the remote villages for a few days. Desperate times.

Not to add to the scepticism but I was also due to do a tour there a few years back until what happened to them two Scandinavian girls.
