But..
If they decide to forge on with the redevelopment of their ground, which will take years btw, they will be liable to pay this £8.2M grant back. That's my understanding.
 
I'm not a town planner, but far as I know, if a business, regardless of what it is, asks for a sizable grant for a relocation or to set up a new venture then the local council will apply on behalf of the applicant to one of many European Union grant committees to get the capital. If they in any way renege on the contract then they(LFC) will owe the EU and not the local council, so I doubt they would get away with not paying it, unless the council offer to pay it, which would be wrong within it's self. The only reason I know this is because one of my family had to go through the same process.
