Money and football

Very well put.

If I was say Ronaldo, on alike £200k a week at Madrid, and Zenit say offered me £500k a week I wouldn't go I don't think.

Do you think there's a point where a player isn't that bothere dby how much money they earn?

I find it insane that a player like Big Vic (no offence to vic fans) is probably on £30k a week. It's mental isn't it?

I don't think I could spend that much money. I'd have a bloody good go, but it would be tough.

Money doesn't make you happy... is a lie made up by jealous poor people I reckon.

Too much money and it just makes you meh about money.. Rooney and his 100 quid pack of ciggies for example.

Once you have too much money, any more becomes irrelevent and where you live and what you do becomes more important... I guess, sadly I have no idea, but I'm only 6 numbers from finding out. I'll let you know if I'm right after the weekends Euromillions mate.

I agree, it's ****ing football up. A "business rather than a sport" sums it up really.

I'm still in shock at Falcao going to Monaco, I mean it's a great place to live and you'd be on massive wages.
But surely as a footballer in his prime, you'd want to challenge yourself and play in the top few leagues.

I'm sure if I was a professional footballer, I wouldn't say no to more money. But I'd rather be on 50k a week playing for Everton, than 150k a week at a super rich team in a random foreign league like in Russia or Dubai. As stupid as it sounds, passion is more important than money to me, at the end of the day, you could be on the dole earning £56 a week.

All about values isn't it? Money is no good on it's own. It has use because of the things you can buy with it, and the value you attach to those things. If you're a footballer and you value winning the best prizes the game has to offer, then I doubt you'd play for a no hoper team for a few extra quid.

If on the other hand you value the cars or whatever you can buy with the extra cash more than the trophies then you'll go for the money.

I think money can make you happy to an extent. But happiness is something which is in your head, some people have nothing and are much happier than most millionaires. It just depends how content you are with your life I guess.

on the other hand boys, need to watch RoyalAscot now! Hopefully my big £1 treble comes in and gets me 200squid

As much as player greed is a huge issue, I think the bigger problem is agents greed. An agent doesn't really care if their client lives in Spain, France or Kazakhstan - 15% of 10 million is better than 15% of 8 million.
And you can guarantee that those agents will be putting on the real hard sell to the players to get them to accept the bigger contract.
