So I searched to see if there was a thread for mobiles and couldn't find one.
I'm due a upgrade. I've had my Samsung Galaxy s7 for 3 years now and the battery is shot. I'm lucky if I get 2 hours. I'm torn do I get the Samsung Galaxy s10 and commit to paying £50 a month or so for the next 2 years or go for a cheaper option of say the Motorola G7 plus where I can choose my own plan for about £15 monthly. Anyone got the 2 phones mentioned? Did you get good deals? Open to ideas on good phones on the market just nothing iphone

I'm not a mobile phone snob so I have a MotoG6+. Paid £200 outright and got a £20pm contract with Vodafone. Unlimited mins/texts and 10GB along with free Sky Sports (or NowTV or Movies).

The battery life is AMAZING and does a full recharge in under an hour.

I know they have no street cred but I am very pleased with it.

£50+ contracts are ridiculous really.
I must admit I'm coming round to that way of thinking now. I can get the Motorola G7 power for £160 then get a £18 monthly contract getting me unlimited text minutes and 40gig off data which would save me £32 a month. Over the course of 2 years that a saving of over £700

I have the same phone but with Giffgaff deal for 10quid a month SIM only. Great isn't it, you can drop it, leave it on a table in a bar and nothing ever happens do it

No way am I walking around with £700+ in my pocket

Just buy a new battery. Loads of jarg batteries about but anker ones have been good I'm my experience. Cost around a tenner I expect. Got one in my note 4 right now.

The S7 has a non removable case. Well it can be removed but you'll be looking at a ton for someone to do it and then may lose the waterproof feature. Or you can try yourself and trash the phone and your fingers.

I always buy mine second hand from here:

https://www.smartfonestore.com/ can usually get a decent phone for at least 50% the retail
https://www.smartfonestore.com/browse/handset/samsung (s10 for £499?) beats paying £1k!!

and I’ve got a £20 a month contract from three (unlimited everything )

If it was me I’d get a refurbished iPhone 6s/iPhone 7 or something similar and get a sim only deal. Phones haven’t developed very much over the last few years and newer ones are very expensive to fix if you damage them. I think a new screen on a Galaxy S10 or iPhone XS is about £300.

I am clumsy though.

Why does not having a phone make you so happy?

....I had a work Blackberry before I retired and was literally on it from 7am to 7pm, dialling into meetings, taking calls and answering e-mails. When I retired I vowed to hand in my Blackberry and never own one again. It’s lovely.

Saying that, I fully accept they are more than phones and provide a fantastic range of functionality. It is a concern, though, that folk go in zombie mode walking the street and even sitting in company.

Looking in to the Motorola Moto G6 a couple have mentioned and looks a great phone. Very tempted. Between that and the moto g7 power.
