Correct. But still not to the cream who will stay in Europe for the foreseeable future.

I think money and fame talk. Someone will chose being a giant fish in a very rich pond in the near future. I expect within 10 years it will happen. It's only a matter of time for me unless Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico find more money.

I've seen bigger surprises happen so why not? Like Arouna Kone getting a contract extension ;)

Aye I was at that game. We were really bad but i thought Morton were brilliant that night. There's no denying we are on a shocking run of form just now.
Aye, we played well, couldn't believe the difference in Hibs that night from the 2 games earlier in the season.

Good luck today against the Arabs. ;)

Mike and Mike made some great points after the popularity of the World Cup in the US in 2014.
All it will take is one absolute superstar at his peak to move to the MLS and the game will explode there.
Unfortunately, I don't see a Ronaldo or Messi or Neymar doing that.

I still believe that the top teams in Scotland are still stronger, but the Scottish League is so poor that maybe for not much longer.

You lost me at Mike and Mike

Haha. Nah I am thinking today MLS could be an avenue for youngish players to revitalize their careers that may have slipped a bit. Giovinco being a good example. Pato I think would be a star over here...and he'd make a truckload of money. There are others that could see a big pay jump and a chance to compete in a league that is well on the upswing.

But yeah...I honestly think a top line player still in their 20's will join MLS within 10 years. Beyond salary the endorsement deals could be through the roof.

*edit

To address your point about the Osman player (I think I totally get what you mean)...Bradley for me is a much better version. That said we defo don't have enough of them. I reckon that swings back to the fact that we are still in our infancy as a nation with regards to footie.

MLS evolution is marked by 1) past their prime players, 2) 2nd tier players, 3) elite players

We're somewhere between 1 and 2. Lots of guys like the Wright-Phillips, Keimara, (even Jozy), the glut of SA players, and probably Giovinco are stage 2. Not sure we're at stage 3 in 10 years, but seems possible.

....the MLS has to be much stronger. It has money which attracts decent quality players (even if some are at the end of their careers) and the USA national side are much stronger than Scotland. Not even close I reckon.

At some point they're going to have to rewrite the transfer and salary rules to allow that to happen. The rules still very much smack of not wanting to become the next (original) NASL and spend too big then blow up.
