Thank god Columbus won. The thought of the "Western Conf Champs" NY Red Bulls winning the cup was sickening. I'm also a big fan of Sigi Schmid and think he's the best manager on this side of the Atlantic.

Was rooting for NY only because they knocked the Dynamo out but not disappointed at all by the result.

Did we sign McBride from Columbus?

I believe so.

I don't think Everton paid a transfer fee for him though.

I think he came over on a free (or on loan) but I can't remember.

He came on loan from Preston, after DM left there he brought McBride in on loan for the last 8 matches and scored 4. He didn't keep him becasue he wanted to build the team with young uns and told McBride that before signing him. Probably should have kept him given that he was able to hang around the Prem and play pretty well for the next 5 years. Didn't he score a few against us as well, I remember him scoring once against us last year.
