Mets finding a rhythm now. Pete Alonso showing some early career form. Maybe the weight of the contract scenario has been lifted. I was expecting big things from Vientos and Baty based on last season and spring training respectively, they’ve been two of the weakest performers, not just for the Mets but across the league.
It's primary role is generating statistics. The rest is secondary.

MLB is more or less making Sternberg sell the team. The local market is growing by leaps and bounds, yet he doesn’t invest in the squad, he constantly badmouths the area, and every time a proposal to replace the stadium is put forth he backs out of it.
It’s widely believed Tampa and St. Petersburg have both told MLB they are willing to step up to help support the Rays, but only if Sternberg is gone. (One local politician has even said this publicly.) He has absolutely no goodwill. A lot of people are very excited to see the back of him.
