Player Valuation: £40m
Vellios 97
Drenthe 304
Rodwell 392
Osman 476
Baines 541
Jagielka 811
Saha 928
Fellaini 1370

I kind of feel like Vellios is getting the Beckford treatment at the moment. Statistically, it takes him just over 90 minutes to score a goal and yet he can't even get in the squad. It takes Saha more than 10 matches to find the net and he's our first choice. Cahill (1113), Anichebe (94), Straq (93), McAleney (25) and McFadden (21) have gone a combined 1346 minutes/14.95 matches without breaking their duck and they all seem to be preferred ahead of him just now.

If I was Moyes, looking at that and wondering about how I could help the team to score more goals, apart from giving Vellios more game time, I would think twice before bringing Drenthe off and I would consider playing Rodwell in a more advanced role more often instead of only using Cahill and Osman behind the striker.

Out of interest Bily has played 449 minutes (5 games), Barkley 221 (2.5 games) and Gueye 204 (2.25 games) compared to our regular starters Osman (1427- almost 16 games) and Fellaini (1370- just over 15).

If I'm honest, I am left bemused by Moyes' stubborness to even play Vellios at the moment.

He may not be ready to start every game, but he should at least see 30minutes or so? Has his goals not warranted this? It doesn't do well for his confidence..

Just looking through a few more stats and Drenthe has provided 6 assists for us, which is a third of our overall goals total, despite having played less than 7 full matches.

Our next highest assist provider is Cahill with 3 (17% of our total). Everyone else must have less than 2 assists, because they don't make it onto the charts.

I remember when we called for Vellios to start earlier in the season, started a couple games and didn't really look up to it. This would have put Moyes off, and the right thing to do was to pull him back to the bench.

Whether he needs more playing time is the debate I guess, I'm not sure I don't see the players every day at training etc, I can tell he's got a lot of talent, but looking from Moyes' perspective he's still thinking we're not in the position to gamble, and hoping Saha/Cahill will come good with the talent they undoubtably have.

Not disagreeing with your thoughts, just trying to look from the manager's perspective.

Actually, saying 'VELLIOS IN' is a stupid thing to do.

I'd like to see more of him, but at the moment he's not good enough to start games. More of a player to throw on when we're going gung-ho for a win. Then again, his 2 starts have been vs Hangelaand and the whole Stoke backline (animals!) alone, so it's hard to judge.

I'd like to see him come on over Ferry Straqualursi more like.

Shows how bad the team that Moyes starts actually is.
