With a non-top 6 team making the FA Cup final, it means that 6th spot is no longer Europa-League qualification. Only 5th will do.

The table right now looks like this:

pos.....................pl.......gd......pts

2.......Man City.....28.....+27....59
3.......Spurs..........29.....+15....54
4.......Chelsea......28.....+26....52
5.......Arsenal.......28.....+21....47
6.......Liverpool.....29.....+20....45
7.......Everton.......28......+9....45
8.......West Brom..29......+2....43
9.......Swansea.....29......+4....40

Form-wise, we're far from favourites to finish top 5, but all it takes is for Arsenal to lose their next game (they've got Swansea away only 3 days after playing Bayern), and us to beat Man City, then we're back in 5th spot with same games played.

If I was a betting man, I'd plump for us winning the fabled 7th place trophy...but we still have something to play for, and it's within reach...so COYB!! and let's qualify for Europe!

We've still got Arsenal away, Chelsea away and Tottenham away to play, 18th place Wigan have just ripped us to shreds in our biggest game of the season, we've got John Heitinga in defence and Jan Mucha in goal, Jelavic has forgot how to score. Give it up.

None..it will either be a car crash in slow motion now till the end of the season or we go through the motions and slip down the table in a quiet way.

I think we are looking at 8th or 9th now. We just arent good enough, Arsenal are miles better than we are and Spurs are at another level completely. That is the reality i'm afraid.

Maybe the club needs a kick up the ass for something to change, possibly the players were becoming to complacent before Christmas. In a crazy crazy way missing out on Europe yet again might inspire the change that is needed...

No chance.

I am astounded how in the space of a few weeks we've gone from genuine CL contenders to only having an outside chance at Europa...

So, so depressing. :(

I think 9th now.

We might get a 'brave surrender' against Man City, but the wheels have well and truly come off our season.

I don't see us getting points against Spurs, Arsenal, Norwegian Devils, and I worry about us saving QPR and Sunderland from relegation.

I don't believe the players/manager have it in them to turn break the funk.

It's a whole mixture of players being out of form, not fully fit or just knowing they needn't try hard because they're going to be selected in the starting eleven next week anyway.

Not bringing anyone in January royally ballsed us up.

Yesterday's embarrassing humiliation is going to have a huge effect on the mental attitude of the players for some time. The pschological scars of that will take a long time to heal and it certainly won't be before the end of the season.
