Player Valuation: £8m
McCarthy - Besic - Barkley is best for me that we have at moment, young , don't like to lose , will work harder to prove their worth and flair . I wanna to hear other Evertonians best solution for our protection of defense and puting ball up front.Barry is a worker that no one will deny, but I do not see the flair that we need from him and hes slow and that is killing us. The contract of three years for thirty-three-year-old players saturated football may not be the smartest move.He does not seem ready, no pass, no penetration, slower then ever and leaves our defense completely exposed and i do not see him like first choise, but he play 180 minutes in three days and I think Martinez still does. Barkley for me is talent that should be centerpeice in our play .When he plays free attack , hes great at defense to, hes fast , he can pass , he can shoot , hes pace and agility is great .Just let him play ATM few games and he will come back. Who plays well by changing positions every other game . How can you play well when you play 3 matches as a winger, and one CM and again wing then bench then CM. He must be relax and confident on ball to get best of him .Besic and McCarthy can provide that as well for him and our wingbacks. Free Barkley will attract more defense on him to leave the space for wingers and overlaping wingbacks and most importantly Lukaku, who looks for now only useful with the ball in front . I would add order to Garbutt already looks great in his position and to Baines could play winger . (Wing which has ingrained habits that track back). Any other ideas how to protect our goal but it was still dangerous i like to read them. Think it s our crucial problem at moment finding right squad , just can't be this bad from nowhere.

That's the key to questions on CM selection. If you have CBs as bad as those two chuckleheads have been all season then you'd need a CM partnership of Patrick Vieira and Roy Keane in front of them to get away with it. If we sorted those two CB positions out we really need to start deploying Barkley with McCarthy ASAP. And if we ever got a playmaker worthy of the name in behind Lukaku it'd provide a great spine for this team to get some success. We're a couple of purchases away from making that happen.

Wouldn't mind trying a 4-3-3. Seeing as we seem to lack a proper CAM, arguably the most important player in a 4-2-3-1.

Then we could have Besic sitting deep, with Ross and McCarthy either side. That's a fair bit of protection for the defence, but has the added benefit of allowing Ross and James to get forward too.

Maybe we need Stones to play as a sweeper to cancel out the two knobheads' Jagielka and Distin mistakes?

So kinda Silva player is what we need by your opinion and yes i agree CB are [Poor language removed] but Barry as a protector in front of them to me look like a bad joke.Even that goal Barkley made mistake Barry should deal with that way before Barkley tracking back.I respect Barry i really do but no in this league with that speed he can offer much . If we are Burnley and play park the bus every game that is other story , but when we spread and there is space around him he can't do much.

Totally agree m8, just waiting to see these three in place. Mirallas one side, Lukaku up front....then one last place up for grabs by Aids or Cone.

To me the three you mention are what I put forward elsewhere. For me they are the equivalent of Ball, Harvey and Kendall.

Can only remember the Derby he went this way? Hand forced by injuries. Barry McCarthy and Besic...but with Hibbert and Baines not getting forward much it was a solid four in the middle most of the time.

Next game up against Hull there might be a different level of expectation than hunkering down for a draw, as we did against Liverpool.

....I'm still fine with the Barry/McCarthy partnership. I reckon poor individual performances is due to balance of the side and more specifically wide positions. The Baines, Barry, Pienaar axis was ideal because the 3 linked very well in short passing triangles. Also, Baines and Pienaar could take their link into opponents area knowing Barry could sit in.

Taking Pienaar out of that equation has hampered Baines and Barry. Barry is not as effective picking passes centrally and often gets 'mugged' with the ball or misplaces a pass. Baines is not as effective with a Mirallas type in front of him. Folk will largely disagree but I think we would be much better with Osman playing wide left.

The root of this problem might not be the individuals playing DM. Get back to basics and a team model that has worked so well for us.
