If we can generate funds selling these sort of "expendable" player then we must if we ever want the slimmest chance of keeping Stones.

I guess a loan fee for Niasse +

Barry / Cleverley / Gibson /Kone / McGeady and possibly McCarthy going would be more than enough in terms of profit and wages...

How good do you think our midfield would be compared to the rest of the league?

Nowt to worry about, once he puts the royal blue jersey on, it will act like the golden fleece, his ills will be cured.

Lol also i think wenger would want a lot for him and if hes on the left cutting inside then theres probably better players walsh could find like the left sided mahrez.

Hypothetically speaking if we could start a midfield 5 of Carvalho, Barkley, Witsel, Mata and Geri (if that's balanced) and everyone settles in fine from the off; quality-wise we are right up there with the Top 5 and way ahead of Liverpool and West Ham etc.

Is Man Citys midfield that good? Besic destroyed them last season...also Uniteds wasnt great...
City of Silva, De Bruyne, Gundogan to name a few is far better than most. Take into account noltio, sane, out wide.

United have pogba, the dortmund fella, sweinsteiger , schniederlain etc

Easily great midfielders.

Fair point on city....even if utd get pogba it wouldnt be as good as ours.
