All goals are important, pal.

Forwards score goals. If their defence go on to concede more goals, how is that their fault? If other players go and score further goals, how is their goal less important?
I'm not saying they aren't lol

If he plays the next season and scores another 20 then you can look and say he is a really top attacker. Perhaps he may have been, 5 in i think 10 games in the second season isnt too bad. It is just the waxing lyrical about a player who for all intents and purposes just had a really good season. I'm not discrediting him in any way, clearly worthy of praise for his 20 goals.

But there are comparisons to the likes of gerrard and lampard who played similar roles but added more to the team in that respect. Taking Nothing away from his goals though.

Well you kinda are, cos you made the distinction between them in your previous post, and suggested Michu's goals were not important.

Well he'd win the top scorer and likely propel Stoke somewhere near the Champion's League, so on form, yes he would be... and considering it's Payet's first season in the Premier League you can't say he is or isn't a one season wonder. Use your brain. Goals are important whether it's the 1st or 6th of the game.
Payet was one of the top assist makers last year, theres your one season wonder, except he turned up in England and has carried on. I suppose you think Vardy is equal to the likes of Lebondowski as well for his scoring records?

I haven't discredited him in any way, but all you have is one season to go on with Michu, and he never really proved to be a match winner. Ifs and buts as to whether he was a flash in the pan but point is you can only judge on what is in front of you which is either a striker who came into fantastic form, or he became a better player.

Ah right so scoring 20 goals in the Premier Leauge isn't enough these days to be classed as a top attacker, the standards must be getting higher now... like I said, he scored something like 15 goals from attacking midfield in La Liga then 22 for Swansea as an attacking midfielder and then some more the next season before a bad injury. No one is saying he was as talented as Lampard or Gerrard - why would we? All I'm saying is he was talented, unlucky, and shouldn't be called overrated.

In the game, not in general. If swansea are 3-0 up with 10 minutes to go and he scores, does that goal really matter in the grand scheme of things?

what i was saying was taken from one of those RAWKesqe articles that took top goal scorer goals from the results and saw whether they made a difference or not. So say rooney's goals gained 30 points for united (purely examples) michus goals gained swansea very little, as in theoretically if muchu hadn't have scored his goals then swanseas season would not have changed much.

but that was all on paper/

See previous post mate. My thoughts come from an article at the time that took the top goal scorers and saw whether their goals made a difference to the season. Michu's goals overall added very little to their end position, as in goals that didn't change the result.

He did well, had a very good season, and almost ended up making a big money move as a result. Can't say either way now if he was in form or not

It would matter if they ended up qualifying for Europe by virtue of a 1 better GD over their rivals.

that is getting far too specific though isn't it?
Not at all! You're the one who asked how important it would be! You might say it is just rubbing salt in the wound for your opponents that day, but you never know when a goal might really make a difference.

There was an article about him a while back.

Apparently everyone really liked him in his first season at Swansea. Then after he came back for pre season something had changed and he was very arrogant....cant remember much more that was said but it basically highlighted what had gone wrong for him there and why he went off on loan.
