Oh and a last note, how patriotic are the English governing body, not seen many games for England played up our neck of the woods for a whilst and won't until they pay off their nice new shiny 'national' stadium

Big Dunc being a case in point.

The SFA insisted in him bring prosecuted even though Willie MsStay wanted the charges dropped.

So Duncan told them to do one.
 
Similar thing happened a few years ago when Makelele got called up after he retired.

Mourinho had a moan saying they were treating him like a slave but Makelele just turned up and got on with it.
 
Beckham was driven partly by self interest in representing England, it kept his profile high in the sports pages back in the UK whilst he was swanning off playing in a third rate American league whilst still not massively away from his peak, but yeah it was all for the love of Country mate if it makes you happy to believe so.
