I actually thought during the game: why is this ref doing his job properly.
Other than booking Kenedy he didn't make any other glaringly poor call.
I find it more upsetting that we feel the need to praise a referee though.
Not just our club, time after time you see games around the country where the man with the whistle appears out of their depth.

It's funny how you form opinions over time with regard to refs - I've always thought of Oliver as someone we "get nothing from" - bit like no Friend of Everton Kevin. Maybe it was cos the first hour of the game was dire, but he really stood out. As others have noted, the attempts to play advantage when others like Atkinson would be blowing every 30 seconds.

Typical of us though, he probably will get the Derby and have a 'mare, and we'll be back to the voodoo dolls.

Always sang his praises personally mate. He's a very good ref. Liable to the off mistake but no where near as much as the others

Chelsea fans slating him on theshedend.

Course they are. They don't like when a ref is able to completely shut out their entitled mob of "winners" and make coherent decisions. They prefer refs who add 8 minutes of extra time for them to score and linesmen who can't spot a man who is two lengths of a field offside.

Oliver is one of the few refs who doesn't have a noticeable bias and comes to his own conclusions. People forgive him for his inevitable errors because those errors don't always seem to favour a certain profile of team

Be nice if the ref went into both dressing rooms before the game and told the players that anyone disputing his decisions would be carded, think everyone is fed up seeing players in the face of the ref,and we all know which teams are the main culprits.

Fed up with the above and also the pushing and shoving in the box, unfortunately it all appears to have become part of the game and the refs in the main are inconsistent with their decisions in regards to this.
