There are some amazing method actors and there have been some amazing method acting performances over the years.

But which has been your favourite?

I'm torn between Bale in The Machinist and McConaughey in Dallas Buyers Club.

Both James Dean and Marlon Brando acknowledged his influence .

This cameo in 'Judgement At Nuremberg' was nominated for best supporting actor in 1961.

Pretty sure that just before Gangs of New York, DDL got pneumonia, or something similar, and he refused to use modern medicine to help him get better.

Bale made some brilliant films with great characters when starting off. Then Hollywood took notice and gave him the generic blockbuster roles. American psycho,machinist and hard times. He is mesmerising in them.

Until yesterday I didn’t even know what he looked like; never seen one of his films. Was getting him confused with the chap from Homeland.

He's in that 'my left foot' were he plays a lad with cerebral palsy. Went full method and only used his left foot for months. He won an oscar for it. He normally wins an oscar any film he does and does a film every 3 years or something.

Yeh that's what was weird; he's so famous and wins all these awards and I could have walked past him in the street and not known who he was lol

For me Robert Deniro in Taxi Driver, just exudes the emptiness and disconnect of his character effortlessly. Apparently he would drive 12 hour cab shifts in preparation.
Another notable performance for me, oddly enough is Jim Carrey in dumb and dumber. He was so method he paid a dentist to intentionally mess up his teeth.
