I think that's a very fair comment.

Thats a failure of the coaching IMO.

And I think young John loves a good slidey as much as he does running with the ball.

Souness gave a good opinion on Stones recently when he compared him to Hansen, Hansen made similar mistakes when he started playing first but eventually realised when to play and when to boot the ball into row z.

I think that was the gist of what Merson was saying about Stones as well.
