Merseyrail yesterday.

We're there any issues with the loop stations in the city yesterday for getting on the Wirral lines? We are planning to get the train for the Brighton game, so wondered how it went.
We got off at James Street and they were guiding us to the Water Street exit up the ramp before the game.

Left at 90 mins and walked back to James Street and ended up getting the 17.22 to New Brighton on the way back and it was relatively busy but no major problems. Hard to gauge that one though given that a lot of people stayed in the ground.

Cheers, hopefully not much different than a Goodison match day, just busier with a bigger crowd I guess.

They pulled out all the stops at Sandhills - fair play.

Dozens of staff on duty and very well organised with signs, filter lanes and staff with loudhailers - it worked very well. Soon as the train departed, the customers for the next one were let onto the platform in rotation. Long may it continue!

How long was the walk from James st mate? I'm guessing 20mins from your post but not sure exactly when the match ended.

So nobody was crushed to death, then, and no bridges collapsed or anything? Very disappointing for some on here.

Mind you, the queues in the ground were the stuff of nightmares - worst queues I've ever seen for over-priced booze - and that PA system is way too loud - it made quite a few jump out of their seats and could prove fatal for those with heart issues.

Came from West Kirby and trains were fine easy got a seat. Chose to walk from Moorefields as wasn't sure how sandhills would cope.

The one caveat to the positivity I would say is the legends match meant the fans left the ground in dribs and drabs.

The test will be inclement winter weather in a proper PL match as more people will want to arrive as close to k.o. as possible and all leave as one and maybe not hanging around socialising in the surrounding area as much.

Yesterday was a carnival atmosphere so be interesting what a 'real' game will be like.

Brighton will be a nightmare

almost 53,000 people all leaving at the same time

Least yesterday around 15,000 fans stayed behind to see the legends game or walk around the stadium for a bit whereas against Brighton it will be a mass exodus with massive queues for the train I’d imagine
