Sid James

Player Valuation: £10m
Nominations are out this years Gong, Contenders for Album of the year are:

Arctic Monkeys - AM
James Blake - Overgrown
David Bowie - The Next Day
Jake Bugg - Jake Bugg
Disclosure - Settle
Foals - Holy Fire
Jon Hopkins - Immunity
Laura Marling - Once I was and Eagle
Laura Mvula - Sing to the moon
Rudimental - Home
Savages - Silence Youself
Villagers - (Awayland)

Bowie is hotly tipped for this, although I think this is down to the fact that he's Bowie and he's released a album as opposed to musical merit and similar I think for the Arctic Monkeys nomination, then again I'm hyper cynical

Thoughts, favourite , NEA ??

Jake Bugg for me

More Details on the BBC

I thought I was doing quite well when I recognised the top 4 artists, then I had no idea who any of the rest were.

Based on the ones I know and have heard it'd be Jake Bugg for me as well

Laura marling - once I was and Eagle. I've never heard the album but she sounds off her tits and that usually a prerequisite for decent music.

Obviously going to be Bowie. This award gets worse each passing year. Boards of Canada? Bonobo? Vondelpark? Depeche ****ing Mode? And dont even get me started on the lack of metal and punk in these nominations.

I think the list is quite obvious. They've played it safe again. Bit disappointed The 1975 didn't get a nomination here. Think it is probably between Bowie, Marling and Disclosure. With Bowie probably edging it.

Can't see Arctic Monkeys getting it. I'd love to see Foals or Savages get it, but no chance.
