Think the media have been very naughty today with their approach and coverage of seabass. When i walked into the bookies this afternoon and the price was 7/1 i almost laughed but the amount of people i saw just ticking seabass to win £5 time and time again made me think that this was just one massive scam.
seabass was heavy in the weights, was in worse form than last year, wasnt high in the ratings, history says that the winner would never come from here. the horses that were promoted in the press allday totally flopped.
the front runners or horses with credentials to win in the racing post all turned up.
Across the bay - front runner will run in front for as long it can. did so for 28 fences. but has chased on heavy ground over 3m three times. took 40/1
Balthazar king - front runner will run in front questions over trip. but did so till after canal turn. maybe went to hard at beginning as across the bay was going hard. took 20/1
Teeforthree - another one who will want to be at the front but will make the trip and is a grand national horse you expect to make top 4. took 12/1
coppa bleu - state of play trainer expect a massive run and has form over other horses in race. took 14/1
my mrs backed oscar time, aurora encore and sool as she just wanted low weight horses. and got lucky. but looking at the form of two of the three they all had pedigree and could make the trip. yet the media remained silent.
yet the media and bookies allday pushed four horses with no grand national form or in their prime; seabass, on your own, chicago grey and imperial commander.
the winner after the race everyone was saying he only just lost the scottish national and doesnt like running in th ecold and always blossoms later in the season and runs all day. YET NO-ONE said that before the race. only the racing post said worth a shout and worth a place.
